Angela Oscarson, CMHC Intern

Hi, I’m Angela
You trained yourself to be the one who handles it. Maybe that was necessary and it served you for a long time. But something shifted, and the way you've always pushed through isn't working anymore. The weight is different now, and it doesn't go away the way it used to.
I work with adults who have spent their lives in high-stakes environments: veterans and active-duty military, first responders, healthcare workers, and others in helping professions who know how to care for everyone else but rarely receive that care themselves. I also work with people navigating trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the identity shifts that come with major life transitions.
For those in military or first responder culture, I understand the norms and language and won't ask you to translate. I'm affirming of LGBTQIA+ clients and hold faith transitions with care and intention.

My framework is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. The training that makes someone effective in a high-stakes environment can also make it harder to recognize when something is wrong or to believe that support is warranted. I work with that reality rather than around it.
I draw on CBT, DBT, ACT, narrative therapy, and person-centered approaches, adapting to what each person needs rather than applying a single model.

Angela is completing her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her work is supervised by Thomas Skousen, LCSW. Supervised care means a licensed clinician is actively involved in your treatment from the start. Associates here meet weekly with their individual supervisor, join biweekly group supervision, and take part in monthly consultation groups covering specialties like DBT, EMDR, and complex trauma, plus a monthly deep dive training built to sharpen skills and deepen expertise.
