Adult ADHD & Autism Assessments in Utah
Many adults reach a point where ADHD or autism feels like it may be part of their story, even if it was never named earlier in life. You might see yourself in ADHD or autism descriptions, recognize patterns from your child’s diagnosis, or look back on a lifetime of feeling like you had to work harder than everyone else just to keep up. You may be wondering what a diagnosis would mean, whether you “count,” and what could actually change with more clarity.
Purple Sky Counseling offers neurodivergent-affirming ADHD and autism assessments for adults. These assessments are designed to help you understand your experience more clearly, not to invalidate it. The focus is on context, strengths, nervous-system patterns, and next steps—not on finding ways to disprove what you already know about yourself.
What these assessments are (and are not)
This is a clinical, neuro-affirming assessment process for adults exploring ADHD, autism, or both.
It is designed to:
Take your lived experience seriously
Look at patterns over time, not just a single moment
Consider overlap with trauma, anxiety, depression, and other factors
Offer feedback, language, and recommendations you can actually use
It is not:
A quick one-time screening only
A test designed to gatekeep or shame your experience
A process that assumes ADHD or autism automatically need to be “fixed”
Assessments are meant to give you clarity, language, and direction, whether or not ADHD or autism end up being the best description for what you are noticing.
Who these assessments are for
Assessments are currently for adults only. Youth ADHD or autism evaluations may involve different tools and processes and are not part of this specific service.
Adult ADHD and autism assessments at Purple Sky are for:
Adults who see themselves in ADHD or autism and want more clarity
Adults who were missed earlier in life and are now re-examining their history
Adults wondering whether ADHD, autism, trauma, anxiety, or something else fits best
Adults who want to better understand themselves, their patterns, and what support might help
What the process typically includes
The assessment process takes multiple sessions rather than a single appointment, so there is enough time to understand your history and current experience. Exact structure can vary by person and clinician, but generally includes:
A detailed clinical interview about your history, patterns, and current concerns
Questionnaires and rating scales related to ADHD, autism, and other experiences
Discussion of strengths, challenges, masking, burnout, and context (work, school, home, relationships)
Consideration of overlapping factors such as trauma, anxiety, depression, or health concerns
A feedback session to talk through impressions, language that fits, and recommended next steps
You will also have a chance to talk about what you hope to get from the assessment—for example, more self-understanding, guidance for therapy, ideas for workplace/school support, or documentation for accommodations, if appropriate.
Cost and what’s included
The flat fee for an adult ADHD and/or autism assessment at Purple Sky Counseling is $750.
This fee covers:
The multi-session assessment process
Clinician time reviewing your history, questionnaires, and related information
A feedback session to discuss findings and answer questions
A written summary or letter that outlines impressions and recommendations
If you need something very specific (for example, documentation for a particular workplace, school, or testing setting), you can discuss those needs with your clinician so expectations are clear.
A neurodivergent-affirming lens
These assessments are neurodivergent-affirming, which means:
ADHD and autism are understood as brain and nervous-system differences, not failures
Masking, burnout, and chronic self-blame are taken seriously
Culture, faith, gender, sexuality, trauma history, and family context matter
Your voice and lived experience are central in the process
The goal is not to talk you out of your experience or to fit you into a narrow box. It is to help you better understand yourself and what supports may be useful moving forward.
What happens after the assessment
After the assessment, you and your clinician will talk about:
What language fits (for example: ADHD, autism, AuDHD, traits, or something else)
How these patterns may have shown up across your life
Recommendations for therapy, skills support, accommodations, or medication evaluation
How to share or not share this information with family, work, school, or others, depending on your situation
Some adults choose to begin or continue therapy at Purple Sky. Others focus on psychiatric medication support, workplace or school accommodations, or changes in how they structure their daily life. There is no single “right” way to use the information—your goals matter.
