How much does therapy at Purple Sky Counseling cost?

Cash-pay rates depend on the clinician's credential level: $100 per session with an intern, $135 with a pre-licensed associate, and $165 with a fully licensed clinician. When billed to insurance, the contracted rate is $200 per session ($250 for the intake) at every tier, and your actual cost depends on your plan. Sliding scale is available with interns ($75) and pre-licensed clinicians ($100) by approval. Most clinicians offer a free 15-minute consultation.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We are in-network with Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, ChampVA (Open Access), Cigna, EMI, HMHI, Medicaid, Optum, PEHP, SelectHealth, Tricare (through TriWest), University of Utah Health Plans (UUHP), and UnitedHealthcare / UMR. For plans we are not in-network with, we provide superbills you can submit for partial reimbursement. We recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to confirm benefits before your first session.

Where are your offices located?

We have eight in-person offices in Utah: two in Murray plus Bountiful, Farmington, Heber City, South Ogden, Lehi, and St. George. We also offer secure online therapy to anyone physically located in Utah.

Do you work with children and teens?

Yes. We have clinicians who specialize in child and teen therapy, including play-based work for younger children and adolescent-focused therapy for teens. Family therapy is also available when it helps to involve the broader family.

Do you prescribe medication?

Yes. Our psychiatric medication management team works alongside our therapists, so you can have therapy and medication management within the same practice. Refills and dose changes are handled during scheduled appointments.

What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy used to treat trauma and PTSD. It uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge. Purple Sky is one of Utah's leading EMDR teams and offers both weekly and intensive formats.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. We offer secure online therapy and online medication management to anyone physically located in Utah. Online clients receive the same clinicians, the same rates, and the same standard of care as in-person clients.
