Two New Teen Therapy Groups in Bountiful This Summer

Summer looks different for every teenager. Some fill it with screens. Some carry a level of stress they do not quite have words for yet. This summer, Purple Sky Counseling is offering two teen therapy groups in Bountiful built for exactly those moments: Digital Detox for Teens and Stress Management for Teens. Both run for five weeks, both are open to ages 13 to 17, and both are led by our facilitator Jake Simmonds, ACMHC, in a space where teens can show up as they are.

Digital Detox for Teens

Screens are part of every teenager's world now, but very few teens have been taught how to live alongside them in a way that feels good. This group helps teens build healthier technology habits while connecting with peers in a supportive, judgment-free environment.

Over five weeks, teens will learn how to manage their digital life, understand the science behind digital overuse, set realistic goals and limits on their devices, and reconnect with people and nature in a way that actually sticks. The goal is not to shame anyone for their phone. It is to help teens feel more in control of how they spend their time and attention.

Digital Detox for Teens meets every Thursday from 1:00 to 1:55 PM, July 16 through August 13.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Stress Management for Teens

Teen stress is real, and it does not always look like stress. It can show up as a short temper, trouble sleeping, headaches, stomachaches, or quietly pulling away from the people who care. Many teens assume everyone else has it figured out and that they are the only one struggling.

This group gives teens practical tools, supportive peers, and a safe space to manage stress and build resilience. Together they will learn what stress does to the body and mind, practice real strategies to calm themselves down, build habits that lower stress over time, and support one another along the way. They leave with skills they can use long after the group ends.

Stress Management for Teens meets every Thursday from 2:30 to 3:25 PM, July 16 through August 13.

Because the two groups run back to back on the same afternoon, a teen can join one or both.

What makes these teen therapy groups in Bountiful helpful

Group offers teens something that individual sessions cannot always give: the quiet relief of realizing they are not the only one. When a teen hears a peer describe the same worry or the same 2 a.m. scroll, the shame starts to loosen. Skills also tend to stick better when they are practiced alongside other people rather than talked about in the abstract.

Both groups are small, structured, and led by a licensed facilitator who keeps the space steady and safe. Parents often notice that a teen who resisted the idea of therapy warms up quickly once they are in a room with peers their own age.

Prefer to start one-on-one?

Group is a good fit for many teens, and it is not the only door in. If your teen would feel more comfortable starting one-on-one, our therapists also offer individual sessions where they can work at their own pace with a counselor who gets to know them. Some teens do individual work and a group at the same time, and some start individually and join a group later once they feel ready. Whatever the starting point, we will help you find the right fit for your teen.
