Cassidy DuHadway, LCSW
(she/her)
Founder | EMDRIA Approved Trainer™ and EMDRIA Approved Consultant™
Hi, I’m Cassidy
I started Purple Sky Counseling because I kept meeting people who had done years of therapy and still had not been given the chance to go deep, to work where attachment wounds, religious trauma, and complex trauma actually live. I wanted a place where that depth was the norm, not the exception.
Before I was a founder or trainer, I was a therapist. I spent years working with trauma across ages and stages, especially attachment wounds, religious trauma, complex trauma, and ADHD. EMDR changed how I understood healing: not as managing symptoms, but as helping the nervous system finally finish what it never got to finish. That conviction is the foundation Purple Sky is built on.
Now most of my work happens one step removed from the therapy room. I train therapists in EMDR, consult with clinicians working toward EMDRIA certification, and spend much of my time teaching, speaking, and writing about trauma and therapy. I wrote Becoming Me to bring that work to people outside the profession too. Training the person who sits with you matters just as much as what happens in your session, which is why Purple Sky invests heavily in supervision, consultation, and ongoing specialty training.

I believe deep, long-lasting healing happens when therapy is authentic and unhurried, when the relationship is real, and when the work goes to where the wound actually lives rather than circling its symptoms. That belief shapes how I train: clinicians who work with me learn to pace therapy to the nervous system, to treat attachment and identity as central rather than incidental, and to trust that clients are not problems to be fixed. My own work draws on EMDR alongside somatic approaches and parts work, because trauma lives in the body and in the parts of us that learned to protect it.
It also shapes the practice. Every Purple Sky clinician works inside a culture of weekly supervision, consultation groups, and ongoing training in specialties like EMDR, DBT, and complex trauma, because depth should never depend on which door a client happens to walk through. And I have been just as intentional about the environment itself: Purple Sky is built as a neuroaffirming workplace, where the same respect we extend to clients’ brains and nervous systems extends to the people who do this work.
