Hi, I’m Lia
At home you're one person. Outside it you're someone else. You translate between the two all day, for your family, for your culture, for people who expect a version of you that you're not sure you still are. Underneath all that translating is a question you haven't had room to ask: what do you actually want?
I work with people caught between worlds. That often means immigrants, children of immigrants, and people from multicultural households, balancing what family, culture, and community expect against what actually feels true. It also means people in the middle of a faith transition or deconstruction, whose relationship with their religious community is changing faster than they can explain to anyone in it. Alongside that I see clients working through anxiety, stress and burnout, depression, perfectionism, and the pressure of meeting competing expectations.
You don't have to arrive able to describe any of this cleanly. A lot of the people I work with have spent years being the reliable one, the one who adapts, the one who makes it easier for everyone else. Here you get to be curious about yourself instead of useful to someone else. My job is to help you build enough self-compassion to look at the hard parts honestly, and then to build a life that fits the person you actually are.

I work with DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems parts work. DBT and ACT give you something practical to hold onto when emotions are running the show, a way to build skills and make room for what's hard without waiting to feel better first. Parts work is where I spend most of my time. It lets you understand the different pieces of yourself, including the ones you've been at war with, as things that developed for a reason rather than flaws to fix.
I'm especially drawn to identity and belonging: the work of figuring out what you believe and who you are when the answers you inherited have stopped fitting. That process is usually more grief and more freedom than people expect, and it goes better with company.
