Meet Taya
Hi, I’m Taya. I’m a Clinical Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families find healing, resilience, and a stronger sense of self through life’s challenges and transitions.
I specialize in supporting clients navigating anxiety, self-esteem challenges, grief, sexual assault trauma, family trauma, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, and systemic stressors. My approach is grounded in humanistic and family systems therapy, while also integrating narrative approaches like the Tree of Life to help clients reconnect with their strengths, process painful experiences, and reshape the stories they carry about themselves and their lives.
I have a deep commitment to serving BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, and I strive to create a therapy space that feels culturally responsive, affirming, and safe for every client’s lived experience and identity. I’m especially passionate about supporting clients navigating the impact of culture, intergenerational experiences, and relational dynamics that may influence mental health, self-worth, and connection with others. I also enjoy working with couples — including interracial and multicultural couples — and families seeking healthier communication, deeper understanding, and stronger emotional connection.
My experience working with high-acuity clients has prepared me to support individuals navigating trauma, emotional overwhelm, grief, and complex relational challenges with compassion, steadiness, and care. I continue expanding my clinical training in areas such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and expressive arts therapy to offer clients additional pathways toward healing and self-discovery.
I believe therapy should feel collaborative, empowering, and deeply human. Whether you are feeling stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or trying to heal from painful experiences, my goal is to help you feel seen, supported, and capable of creating meaningful change in your life and relationships.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy roller skating, playing video games, and expressing creativity through metalsmithing. These creative outlets help me stay grounded and inspired, and I bring that same curiosity, authenticity, and creativity into my work with clients.
If you’re looking for a thoughtful, relational, and culturally aware therapist who will meet you with empathy and respect, I’d be honored to support you on your journey.
